Strength
The strength attribute is a measure of a character's physical power. Strength is required to use strength-based equipment and skills.
Strength also provides certain inherent bonuses:
- Every 10 strength grants an additional 5 maximum life.
- Every 10 strength grants 2% increased melee physical damage.

Some skill gems, keystones, or items provide other scaling for the innate increased Melee Physical Damage bonus from strength.
- Iron Will
- Iron Grip
- Might in All Forms causes allocated dexterity and intelligence within the jewel's radius to count towards the Strength melee damage bonus. This can affect Iron Will and Iron Grip.
Base Strength
The Marauder starts with 32 base Strength, the highest of any class.
The Duelist and Templar start with 23 Strength, the Scion with 20, and the Ranger, Witch, and Shadow with 14.
Modifying Strength
Strength can be increased by stacking base Strength and/or All Attributes and X% increased Strength and/or Attributes modifiers.
Implicit Strength on Items
Many implicit modifiers provide base strength on items:

Strength on Equipment
Strength affixes can appear on the following base item categories. Weapons and armour must have strength as an attribute requirement in order for strength to appear as an affix.
- Amulets, Rings, and Belts
- Armour (equipment) with strength as an attribute requirement, i.e. anything that provides armour as an implicit defence. Haku has a crafting option which allows for strength on non-strength-based armours with a value from +16 to 25.
- Weapons with strength as an attribute requirement, including Axes, Swords, Maces, Sceptres, and Staves.
The strength affixes range from +8 to 55 and are bracketed by item level. Strength as an affix is always a suffix. The highest strength suffix is of the Gods. The item level required for this affix is 82.
Jewels have their own suffixes which grant strength. Keep in mind that jewels can only have 4 affixes: 2 prefixes and 2 suffixes.
- of Strength +12 to 16
- of Spirit +8 to 10 (Strength and Intelligence)
- of Athletics +8 to 10 (Strength and Dexterity)
- of Adaption +6 to 8 (all Attributes)
In addition, Essences of Rage guarantee strength of +13 to 58 on any non-weapon equipment, potentially higher than without essences. This also has the added possibilities of strength on non-strength armours.
Attributes on Equipment
All Attributes affixes can appear on the following base item categories. These modifiers are always suffixes.
Haku has a special All Attributes crafting suffix mod that can be crafted onto the following items:
- Body Armour, Helmets, Gloves, Boots, and Shields from +11 to 14 to All Attributes
Unique Items with Additional Strength
Certain unique items provide bonuses to base strength or all attributes.
Increasing or Reducing Strength
A number of unique items provide percent (%) increases to strength. All strength from equipment and passives will be scaled by these modifiers.
In addition, one Ascendancy passive for the Marauder's Chieftain ascendancy scales strength.

Other Ways to Modify Strength
Converting one attribute to another is called transforming. This can be done on the passive skill tree by socketing certain unique jewels. In a large radius, they will transform one attribute - granted by allocated skills in the area - to another attribute.
