Layout
The map is divided into 2 large areas and 1 boss arena. The first area, the one the player spawns in, is similar to Strand MapStrand MapMap Level: 70

on this dark shore.Travel to this Map by using it in a personal Map Device. Maps can only be used once.. The second area, accessed via a red portal found in the first region, is similar in style to the Ship Graveyard from Act I, and the boss arena is located in a cave entrance much like The Ship Graveyard Cave.
The Boss arena features an Ancient Seal (similar to the one that unleashes the darkness in the Vaal Ruins of Act 2). Interacting with the Seal spawns the Shade boss(es).
Note, it is advisable to finish the first area before moving on to the second via the teleporter, as there is no way to return to the first area other than by logging out or dying and respawning from the portal. The boss arena cannot be exited until all bosses are defeated.
Mechanics
While inside the map area, a modifier called Creeping Darkness is applied on all players:
Light Radius, Item Rarity and Item Quantity decays over time, and is increased by kills. |
Killing monsters will grant a temporary invisible buff that increase in light radius, player IIR and player IIQ based on the rarity of the enemy:

These bonuses are capped at 100% increased Light Radius, 100% increased Quantity, and 200% increased Rarity from kills and decays at a rate of 5%/5%/10% per second. The bonuses do not decay past the baseline IIR/IIQ of your character.
Sources of increased or reduced Light Radius from items also linearly apply an increase or decrease of IIQ and IIR at the same ratios of 1:1:2 which are not affected by the decaying buff.[1] It is also not affected by the 100/100/200% cap, meaning that it is possible to stack light radius to maintain very high IIQ/IIR stats in the map.
Encounters
Boss
A boss monster is spawned for every player in the party, depending on their class.
- Shade of a Witch: Uses Conductivity, Righteous Fire, Lightning Warp, Flame Surge and Ball Lightning.
- Shade of a Duelist: Reave
- Shade of a Shadow: Lightning Trap, Fire Trap, Ice Trap, and Smoke Mines for movement.
- Shade of a Marauder: Cyclone, Summon Raging Spirit, Ground Slam
- Shade of a Ranger: Rain of Arrows, Explosive Arrow, Vaal Burning Arrow, Slower Projectile Ice Shot
- Shade of a Scion: Spectral Throw, Vaal Spectral Throw, Animate Weapon
- Shade of a Templar: Storm Herald, Flameblast Totem, Icestorm,
Once these are killed, there is a final boss:
- Tormented Temptress: uses Proximity Shield, Icestorm, Ice Nova, Arctic Breath, Frost Wall, Smoke Mine.
