Status Ailments encompass a variety of detrimental effects. Those associated with an element are collectively referred to as Elemental Status Ailments. Status Ailments are similar to Curses, but there is no inherent limit on the number of different Status Ailments a target can have at any given time.
Elemental Status Ailments
The most common Status Ailments are of the elemental variety and are caused by Elemental Damage.
- Ignite is associated with with Fire. Critical Strikes of Fire Damage may Ignite the target, causing it to Burn.
- Chill is inherent to Cold. Any hit of Cold Damage has the potential to Chill the target, slowing it.
- Freeze is also associated with Cold. Critical Strikes of Cold Damage may Freeze the target, preventing it from taking actions.
- Shock is associated with Lightning. Critical Strikes of Lightning Damage may Shock the target, causing it to take increased damage.
Ignite, Freeze, and Shock always have the potential to be inflicted by Critical Strikes. There are other ways for these Status Ailments to be applied as well. Targets cursed with Conductivity have a chance to be Shocked when hit with any Lightning Damage.
