A Swig of Hope is an optional quest in Act 3, available if Captain Fairgraves is killed in the Act 1 quest, The Marooned Mariner.

If Fairgraves is not killed, when picking up the quest items Decanter SpiritusDecanter Spiritus"Man is blinded by the mud of his corporeal self. Only
through the transformation of the material into the
spiritual can we hope to taste the full body of life."
- Malachai the Soulless or Chitus' PlumChitus' PlumAs succulent as blood, as sweet as power., the quest log would ask the player to return to the Ship Graveyard of Act 1 instead.

Talk to Captain Fairgraves in the Docks to start the quest.

Note that player can acquire Chitus' Plum and deliver it first, and then Decanter Spiritus second. However, since Decanter Spiritus can be obtained before encountering Fairgraves in Act 3, it is more effective to collect Decanter Spiritus during the storyline progression, instead of backtracking.

Collect the Chitus' Plum

Find Chitus' PlumChitus' PlumAs succulent as blood, as sweet as power. on a tree in the Imperial Gardens.

Travel to the Docks

Return to the Docks and deliver the quest items. Quest items can be delivered at the same time, or in separate interactions by acquiring them one by one.

Look at the sheen on that plum. Is it not the most delectable fruit that you've ever seen? No? Perhaps the gloss of hope is for my eyes only.

And what an aroma! Imminent death never smelled so sweet. I believe I shall call this fine concoction 'the Imperial Nightcap'.
Now, before I get too carried away, there's the small matter of your recompense.
