* Recently means the last 4 seconds.
* Recently means the last 4 seconds.
* The mana cost modifier has no cap.
* The mana cost modifier has no maximum. It scales all costs, including life and rage.
* Sacrificed mana or toggle skill's mana reservation does not count as spent mana.
* Sacrificing or reserving mana does not count as spending it.
* For the purposes of effects like Supreme Decadence, all life recovery related to a mana flask's usage while you have Indigon equipped comes from Indigon, not the flask. This means the amount of life recovered is not scaled by "increased life recovery from flasks" modifiers, nor will it be gained as Energy Shield while under the effects of Supreme Decadence or Sorrow of the Divine, but it will be affected by modifiers to Life Recovery rate.
* is not considered life recovery from flasks (for the purposes of effects like Supreme Decadence, The Sorrow of the Divine, or mod).
* "mod" is not affected by Life Recovery Rate modifiers because it is instant recovery, akin to life gain on hit effects or instant flasks. While this has the downside of preventing you from scaling the recovery amount, it also prevents negative modifiers such as the Smothering map modifier, and the debuff applied by The Maven's spinning beams in her boss fight, from affecting this recovery, making it remarkably consistent.
* mod is instant; it is unaffected by life recovery rate, including negative modifiers such as the Smothering map modifier.
High mana cost
High mana cost
Indigon's mana cost multiplier can complicate skill use. This can be mitigated or circumvented in several ways:
* Existing totems and other proxies will continue to use your skill without needing to pay costs
* Ongoing duration effects such as Blade Vortex or Winter Orb will continue to deal damage, as their cost was already paid
* Skills can use a different resource, such as Vaal skills or anything supported by Lifetap Support
* Lavianga's Spirit or Vaal Clarity can make skills cost no mana. Lavianga's Spirit's effect is removed once mana is filled, allowing you to spend mana on costs again. Players in permanent leagues may also use the legacy mod amulet modifier.
* Soul Taker and Kingmaker's mod allows the use of melee attacks regardless of inflated costs.
Indigon's high mana cost can make you run out of mana. There are ways to do damage when you don't have mana.
Damage over time snapshotting
* Totems will continue to cast your spells even after you run out of mana.
Damage over time effects snapshot their DPS value, which can make Indigon interesting for spells that apply spell damage modifiers to their damage over time (e.g. Essence Drain). Effects created during Indigon's mod bonus will benefit from that bonus for their entire duration, even if the player loses it. The longer the duration of the DoT (scalable by skill effect duration and Temporal Chains), the less often the player would need to spend mana for Indigon's damage bonus. (This does not apply to duration effects that hit; these do not snapshot.)
* Blade Vortex and Winter Orb will continue to deal damage after you run out of mana.
* mod and mod will allow you to use more Vaal skills when you run out of mana.
* Free mana cost - Lavianga's Spirit, Focus while using an item with the "mod" modifier, or Vaal Clarity. Lavianga's will allow you to spend mana again once your mana maxes out.
* Soul Taker and Kingmaker have the modifier "mod". With fast attack speed and high mana cost, you can almost always use up all your mana and never be unable to attack.
Snapshot
Spells that deal damage over time will snapshot their damage on cast. Therefore, the mod they had when cast will last their entire duration. The longer the duration of the damage, the less often the player needs to spend mana to deal damage. For example:
*A character has mod and Temporal Chains on the enemy with mod. (40 x 1.65 = 66%) (1 x 1.5 = 1.5) (1.5 / .33) = 4.5 times the debuff duration.
*Vaal Blight and Essence Drain are debuffs that have longer durations. (6 x 4.5) = 27 seconds on Vaal Blight. (3.8 x 4.5) = 17.1 seconds on Essence Drain.
*If the character doesn't have enough mana to cast Essence Drain after spending a lot of it to boost Indigon's spell damage, use one of the zero mana cost options listed above the moment before you cast Essence Drain for maximum damage.
*There are many benefits to not having to spend a large amount of mana for 17 or 27 seconds. You can use Mind over Matter and/or to take advantage of the defensive benefits of your unused mana. The mana can also be used to temporarily reserve auras after all your damage over time has already been applied. Remember to remove the aura later if you use 100% of your mana for boosting spell damage.
Interactions with other mechanics
Indigon also scales with Chainbreaker's rage cost.

Damage over time snapshotting

Base Types are now generated with a random 0-15% (on average) higher base defence, as an inbuilt property. This means that all base types can be better than they currently are, and armour base types are not homogeneous any more.
Basetype now has (80-92) Energy Shield. Existing items in the permanent leagues received the lowest roll: 80. [Undocumented This change was not documented by any official sources. It was discovered through player testing or datamining.]
Now grants 20-25% (down from 50-60%) increased Spell Damage for each 200 total Mana you have spent Recently, up to a maximum of 2000%.
Existing versions can be updated to these new spell damage values with a Divine Orb, however all versions are now affected by the spell damage cap.
The actual mod wording is (20-25)% increased Spell Damage for each 200 total Mana you have Spent Recently, up to 2000%. [Undocumented This change was not documented by any official sources. It was discovered through player testing or datamining.]
